CHIEF INSTRUCTOR

He currently holds Shichidan (7th Dan Black Belt) and has been training with the Shukokai style for 42 years and an instructor for 38 years. He has competed at international level for both England and Canada.

Sensei Bentley started his martial arts training in Judo in the late 1960’s, for four years under the guidance of a British Olympic Team Member. He then trained and graded with founder Sensei Kimura.

Sensei Bentley is a certified National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) coach and instructor, he has had many successful clubs in Merseyside and Chester, England, Ontario and British Columbia.

His most recent achievements include Sports Psychology Certification 2006, Karate BC Coach of the Year 2007, a silver medal for Canada in kumite (sparring) at the KSI World Championships in 2008, a bronze in kumite at the KSI World Championships in 2010, and a silver medal in kumite at the KSI World Championships in 2016.

INSTRUCTOR

Kristina started training in 2012 and currently holds the rank of Yondan (4th Dan) Kristina is the Administrator / Coordinator for Kimura Shukokai Karate Canada West. She has also been the official coach for Canada West for the last 2 World Tournaments in Berlin Germany 2016 and Stockholm Sweden in 2018 as well as coach at the Europeans in Switzerland 2022 and Estonia 2024.

She currently assists Sensei David Bentley at both the Brentwood Bay and Deep Cove dojo’s.

INSTRUCTOR

Senpai David started training in 2005 and holds the rank of Godan (5th Dan Black Belt). He started training with Sensei Bentley in Brentwood Bay and took a role as a Senpai (assistant instructor) in 2014.

He has competed in three Kimura Shukokai world tournaments with team Canada West. He is NCCP trained and is currently assisting Sensei David Bentley at the Brentwood Bay dojo.

INSTRUCTOR

Meghan began her Kimura Shukokai journey in 2018 and currently holds the rank of Nidan (2nd Dan).  Meghan has competed in many local KSI and WKF tournaments on Vancouver Island over the years and has competed internationally in the KSI European Open in Zurich Switzerland in 2022 and Tallinn Estonia in 2024.  

Meghan has now shifted her focus to teaching and coaching.  Meghan completed the National Coaching Certificate Program for instruction in 2023 and assists in classes at the Deep Cove Dojo.
